Planning a wedding can be so much fun. It can also be expensive, mind boggling and overwhelming. The bride has many obligations when planning the wedding beyond finding her own perfect wedding dress. The bride may choose jewelry, bridesmaids' dresses, tuxedoes for the men, and the color and theme of the wedding. The wedding may require formal wear, or a casual dress theme. She has attendants to dress, flowers to choose, a menu to have prepared and served. The most unpredictable part of a wedding is often the junior attendants, the flower girl and ring bearer, possibly even the candle lighter. Of course these are only options, not anything that is mandatory or required to get married. All that is really needed is a bride, a groom, and someone either civil or religious to officiate.

After the brides dress has been selected and tried, she may go next to the bridesmaids' dresses. Choices can be long or short, formal wear or traditional folk wear. The attendants may all dress alike, as in a very formal wedding. They also may all dress in different dresses of the same hue, or same dresses all in different hues. The bride may have the bridesmaids purchase their own dresses or she may provide them as a gift. Once the dresses are chosen the subject of shoes for the wedding becomes of prime importance. Depending on the season of the event and the venue and the bride's personal style wedding shoes can be an elegant boot, a dressy sandal, pretty slippers or a fashionable classic pump. The shoes may be leather, or they may be fabric shoes that can be dyed to match the wedding colors.
Actually there is not a rule that says the bridal attendants must be female. Neither is it really a rule that they wear dresses, or that the bride will wear white. However, it can be said that the bride rules the day. Her choice of dress is primary and the rest of the dresses or other apparel center around that. Shoes must look good, while being comfortable for the wedding party. Jewelry is often optional. A very formal wedding might dictate that all attendants, even junior attendants, have the same or very similar jewelry. Maybe classic strands of pearls will set the dress off perfectly. The bride may gift the wedding party with a special article of jewelry for each like an old fashioned locket or lavaliere. Perhaps part of the bridal attire will be a tiara or a jeweled head piece in the bride's hair. The wedding ring or double rings will be the most important jewelry at the event.
Formal wear shops are a great place to begin searching for the needs of the wedding party. They have dresses to buy or rent, as well as veils, tiaras, vests and jackets.
Formal wear can be purchased online as well. It can be safely said that the selection is really without limit and that a beautiful wedding is at the click of the mouse or a short drive down the road.
